Existential Crisis

My 4-year-old daughter caught me off guard the other night. We read one of her favorite books, a children's biography of Pocahontas (non-Disney version). Of course, at the end of the book it states that Pocahontas died around the age of 22, and was buried in London (I think).

We've read this book dozens of times over 12-18 months, but that night was the night when she began asking all about death. Sigh... I wish my husband Jason was there, because he would be SO much better at answering these questions.

So, no preparation for the discussion and it's a hell of a touchy subject for me. Okay, as you can see in the first blog entry, this is a MAJOR subject for me. And, yeah, okay, I guess death is my biggest fear.

Being a parent definitely makes you confront your fears daily. And parenting a very curious preschooler makes me confront my beliefs, fears, and morals daily.
