CVS Trip Week of July 21, 2008

Yes, I love CVS and I find myself sneaking online on Saturday nights to peek at the deals from the Sunday flyers. My husband is patient and rolls his eyes while I check out how good the next week's CVS-ing will be. This Saturday night I delayed a James Bond film, but he forgived me.

  • Colgate BOGO - $1.00 mfr coupon
  • L'Oreal Vive Pro BOGO, plus used BOGO mfr coupon. I didn't think this would work, as it defies all logic and I read that it doesn't work at some stores - BUT I GOT 2 FOR FREE! So, $10 in fancy conditioner for free - woo hoo
  • Crest twin pack of toothpaste - used 50 cent and 75 cent coupons, earned $2.00 ECB
  • Oral-B twin pack toothbrushes - bought cheapest twin pack at $4.99, used $1.00 coupon, earned $2.00 ECB
  • Kotex 2/$11 tampons and maxipads, minus $1.00 coupon and 75 cent coupon, earned $3.00 ECB
  • Pepsi 4/$11, earned $3 ECB
  • American Greetings cards - used coupon to buy one and get one free up to $3.00 I found this one through Money Saving Mom: http://www.moneysavingmom.com/money_saving_mom/2008/07/free-american-g.html

So, I paid $31 out of pocket and got $10 ECBs back. Note: the $2/1 CVS skin care product coupon is not showing up online for me at all. So I decided to forgo the $15 in baby products deal. With the $2 off coupons, it would be worth multiple trips to CVS this week to get the $5 ECBs, but without the coupons, it's not worth it to me!

Walmart Trip Week of July 21, 2008

Okay, normally we don't shop at Walmart. We have moral issues with them. I don't agree with a major retailer imposing personal values on its customers, and that's what Walmart does when it censors music, magazines, and books and refuses to fill certain prescriptions in its pharmacies.

In fact, when I walked in with MV, she looked around the lobby and loudly asked, "Isn't this the store that Daddy hates?" She has obviously inherited my tact.

SO I sucked it up this week and I was a hypocrite and went there. The Crayola craft supplies were just too good to pass up, and MV really needed cheap sneakers for "creeking" (whatever that is) at Girl Scout Camp. I stock up on these pencils, crayons, markers and glue sticks to refresh our arts and crafts supplies but also to use as little stocking stuffers or small gifts for my nieces and nephews.

Here are the deals I scooped up:

  • Free Hannah Montana 3-D glasses - to watch the television debut of her 3D concert film Friday night
  • Bic pens 88 cents a pack
  • Spiral notebooks 5 cents a pack (the 3-subjects are $1.44 and right next to the one-subjects so be careful when you pick them up!)
  • Crayola markers 88 cents a pack - these are not the washable ones, but they did have classic color packs, bright color packs and both broad or fine tip boxes
  • Crayola colored pencils 88 cents a pack
  • Crayola crayons 22 cents a pack of 24 crayons
  • Glue sticks or bottles 22 cents a pack

I also bought the Blue Bunny ice cream and used the $1.00 off coupon I saw linked by Centsible Sawyer, but the price for me was $2.50 minus $1.00 coupon http://thecentsiblesawyer.blogspot.com/2008/07/walmart-deals-updated-720.html

Walgreen's Trip Week of July 21, 2008

Walgreen's had some good coupons in their weekly flyer this week. We had to pick up a plain white t-shirt for MV to tie-dye at Girl Scout Camp, so I took advantage of the trip to stock up on a few things.

  • Dawn dishwashing liquid 11 oz.: 99 cents with Walgreen's coupon
  • Tape: 3 rolls/$1 with Walgreen's coupon (it's no-name tape and not a large roll, but MV uses a LOT of tape for her projects so we always need some)
  • Dixie plates: BOGO for $3.79; note: I did not get the coupon for $3 off next purchase of 2 Dixie plates, although I read these were still printing. Still a good deal if you use paper plates.
  • Bic Comfort 3 razors 4-pack: $2.99 with Walgreen's coupon, minus $2.00 off manufacturer's coupon. The pack was actually a 4-pack with 2 bonus razors, so I got 6 razors for 99 cents! I will definitely use them on our family vacation.
  • Bic 5-pack highlighters: 39 cents with Walgreen's coupon - these were totally sold out
So with the t-shirt, I spent just over $11 and saved over $9.
